Creating a Culture of Awareness & Compassion

When we combat burnout, we’re better able to tune in to those around us and create a culture of compassion, awareness, and empathy for our colleagues. Caring for ourselves allows us to make room for meaningful connections, mindfulness, gratitude, and giving. While it might be more difficult to lean into these values during a crisis, it’s actually times like these that we need them more than ever.

As humans, we're more than just intelligent machines. We need to fuel our bodies and minds with adequate sleep, nutrition, and movement. But too often, we neglect our overall well-being. We believe that in order to succeed, we must deprioritize the things that are actually essential to our health and well-being. This, of course, is a recipe for burnout and other negative implications for our physical and mental health.

Burnout is fueled by many factors, but one of the biggest is the belief that if we work longer hours, "power through," and neglect our well-being, we'll outperform the competition and find the success we're looking for. And the tendency — the temptation, even — to keep pushing ourselves well past our limits for the sake of productivity has only gotten worse.
